  • Renewable energy already purchased would be considered as part of meeting obligations.
  • Power purchase agreements entered into would remain valid till their presentvalidity even if total purchase under such agreements exceeds the percentage of power to be purchased as per the obligation.

Ways to Meet RPO

Purchase of renewable energy or certificates.

Certificates

  • Purchase of solar certificates in case of solar obligation, and non-solar certificates in case of non-solar obligations.
  • Certificates purchased by the obligated entities should be deposited by themwith the Commission according to the detailed procedure issued by the Central Agency.

Effect of default

  • If the obligated entity fails to fulfil its obligation, it might be asked by the Commission to create and maintain a separate fund and contribute such amount as the Commission may decide based on the shortfall in units of RPO and the forbearance price decided by the Central Commission.
  • The fund might be utilized to obtain renewable energy certificates.
