Connectivity with respect to Solar PV Projects, 2016 amended up to 17.01.2018

Eligibility Condition

Consumer of distribution licensee. 

Capacity Target for Distribution Licensee

Cumulative solar energy capacity should not exceed 75% of the distribution transformer’s capacity.  

Metering Arrangement

  • One meter needs to be installed at the generator end after the inverter, on the ground floor of the premises, and a bi-directional meter needs to be installed at the same location where the meter for consumption is installed.
  • Installation of check meters is optional.
  • As per the Central Electricity Authority (Installation and Operation of Meters) Regulations, 2006 and the Central Electricity Authority (Installation and Operation of Meters) Amendments Regulations, 2010, as amended from time to time.
  • Distribution licensee shall test, install, and jointly inspect and seal the meters on behalf of both parties.
  • All costs related to setting up of meters shall be borne by the eligible consumer. 

Interconnection

Interconnection framework shall address parameters including connecting voltage level and minimum technical standards for interconnection following relevant regulations and orders.  

 

OTHER PROVISIONS

 

Energy Accounting and Settlement

  • Electricity generated from a solar PV project would be capped cumulatively at 90% of electricity consumption at the end of a settlement period.
  • Carry forward of surplus energy generation would be allowed from one billing cycle to the next and would be restricted to the same financial year. Any excess energy generated would be treated as free energy.
  • Imported energy shall be eligible for normal ToD benefit as per the order of the Commission prevailing at that time.
