Eligibility Condition
  • Consumer of electricity in the area of supply of the distribution licensee.
    • Shall be within permissible rated capacity (Minimum 1kWp), subject to technical feasibility and sanctioned load.
    • Shall be located at the consumer’s premises.
Capacity Target for Distribution Licensee
  • Cumulative capacity of rooftop solar system to be allowed will be upto 15% of the rated capacity of the distribution transformer.
  • Maximum cumulative capacity of 1 MW shall be allowed to eligible consumers under net metering, on yearly basis, in the area of supply of the distribution licensee.
  • The distribution licensee shall provide net metering arrangement as long as the total capacity (in MW) does not exceed the target capacity determined.
Metering Arrangement
  • Net meters shall be installed at the interconnection point.
  • Solar meter shall be installed at the solar facility, after the inverter.

 

OTHER PROVISIONS

 

Energy Accounting and Settlement
  • Excess electricity injected during any billing period shall be carried forward to the next billing period as electricity billed, and may be used in the next billing period within the same settlement period.
  • Distribution licensee shall raise bills for net electricity consumption after taking into account electricity credit balance from previous billing period.
  • In case of time of day tariff, electricity consumption in any time period shall be adjusted against injection in the same time period, and excess injection over consumption in any other time block shall be treated as injection in off-peak hours.
  • Excess generation in a billing cycle shall be carried forward to the next billing period within the same settlement period.
  • In case generation is more than 90% of consumption after a settlement period, the excess generation shall not be carried over and no payment shall be made.
Other charges Distribution licensee may invoice for other charges, in addition to consumer tariff, as allowed by the Commission.
Penalty In case of failure to meet the requirements of these regulations, the solar power generator shall be liable to pay penalty.
