Maharashtra Net Metering Regulations - 2015

Control Period

From the date of publication in the official gazette. 

Eligibility Conditions
  • A consumer in the area of supply of the distribution licensee.
  • Having capacity less than 1 MW.
  • Installed athis premises on rooftop or any other mounting structure. 
Capacity Target for Distribution Licensee
  • Cumulative capacity of all rooftop solar PV systems under net metering arrangement connected to a particular distribution transformer shall not exceed 40% of its rated capacity.
  • The distribution licensee may allow net metering connection exceeding 40% of such rated capacity upon consideration of a detailed load study carried out by it. 
Metering Arrangement
  • Shall include a single phase or three phase net meter located at the interconnection point.
  • Solar generation meter may be installed by consumer/licensee at an appropriate location if the consumer/licensee desires that such energy be counted towards meeting its RPO. 

 

OTHER PROVISIONS

 

Energy accounting and Settlement
  • Excess export of electricity over import, shall be carried forward to the next billing period as credited units of electricity.
  • For electricity import over export, distribution licensee shall raise its invoice for the net electricity consumption after adjusting for credited units.
  • In case of time of day tariff, electricity consumption in any time block shall be first compensated with the quantum of electricity injected into the same time block, and any excess injection over consumption during any other time block shall be accounted as if the excess injection has occurred during off-peak hours.
