Covid-19 and Renewable Energy Installation in 2020
- Home /
MNRE official in a statement quoted share of clean energy in total installed capacity in India will be around 60% by 2030. The target for 2020-21 is 14 GW installed capacity of clean energy. But given the scenario emerging in the post Covid-19 it seems a demanding target. This is sustained by the fact that clean energy capacity installation has decreased drastically in April-June quarter of 2020 as compared to that of 2018 and 2019. Further the recovery rate looks uncertain in the ongoing uncertain environment. However, Covid-19 seems to have little impact on operating projects.
The following table summarizes installed capacity addition during the April-June quarter of 2018, 2019 and 2020. It is evident from the table that the capacity installed has taken a big jolt during the April June quarter of 2020 as compared to April June quarter of previous two years.
